Steve Putt enjoys playing at open-mikes and occasionally hosts his own open-mike. His "Professor" nickname came from several different sources, mostly because of his part-time instructor's job at KSU. Steve is also the webmaster of this internet site.

Steve started playing guitar soon after the Beatles appeared on Ed Sullivan, when he spent his Hot Dog Shoppe paycheck at Diamond Wholesale to buy a $20 acoustic instead of a class ring. Now you'll see him carrying his two favorites to open-mikes - the blue Washburn D17CE he rescued from a pawn shop, and his eBay prize - a Carvin AE185-12.

His main musical taste and influences have always been the Byrds and any others using a jangly 12-string guitar - the Beatles, Tom Petty, and so on, though he appreciates all folk music and blues - Dave Van Ronk, Josh White, Leadbelly, Dylan, the Yardbirds (and every Clapton, Beck, and Page band afterward), and many, many more.
